YUMA 4X4 MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Upfront:

It's the Law!
Most of the trails in our riding area is managed either by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), or the United States Marines (Barry M. Goldwater Range). Their rules can be strict at times, but we must always remember to follow them! If you can't follow rules, then we don't need you fouling things up and we ask that you find another club that is more to your liking.

Gun laws in Arizona are more lax than in California. If you carry a loaded firearm into the State of California, and you get caught with it, be prepared to go to jail, have your rig towed, and have you firearm(s) confiscated.

Drinking alcohol while driving off-road is illegal in all 50 states. BLM has ticketed people for an "open container". The tickets are $350.00. We do not have a rule against drinking on our Trail Rides, we just ask that if you do, please be responsible and be smart about it.

Laws pertaining to public lands are found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 43 Public Lands: Interior. For more information about off-roading on public lands, go to 43 C.F.R. PART 8340 - OFF-ROAD VEHICLES

  • The Yuma 4-Wheelers 4X4 Club (Yuma 4X4) is a "Trail Club" open to everyone with an interest in 4-wheeling.
  • We follow all rules and laws that are enforced, so that we can keep our trails open and public lands, public. We are always in full cooperation with the BLM, Border Patrol and local law enforcement. All members, new and old, are expected to to do the same.
  • We like to run washes and trails and where ever it is legal to travel. We don't do extreme rock crawling, mud bogging, or sand duning.
  • Although we like a challenge from time to time, we don't go out to see how much damage we can cause to our rigs, or the environment.
  • Only 4X4 trucks and SUV's are welcome on our Trail Rides.

We don't put up with anyone acting like idiots!
Some things we don't put up with (but not limited to) are:
  • Reckless driving
  • littering
  • Harassing/harming animals
  • Vandalizing anything that lays out in the desert.
  • Playing loud music
  • Blasting horns
  • Intoxication
  • Illegal drug use/possession
  • Brandishing firearms. Guns are welcome, just don't be showing them off. Most of us are not familiar with each other, and a gun being shown off will make some of us nervous.
  • Anyone refusing to follow our rules!

Personal Requirements:

  • Members of Yuma 4X4 strive to maintain an impressive reputation in the off-roading community. Each and every member of Yuma 4X4 is expected to maintain and endeavor to enhance our history and reputation. If you are not familiar with Proper Trail Etiquette, you can learn more here...
  • All drivers are to be 18 years old, or older. Exceptions may be made if the parent is present.
  • All drivers must be licensed
  • No phone calls! All club communication is done through the website and email. So, Club Members are required to have computer access.
I asked for an explanation for quitting, and this is what I was told:
"What did it for me was that you did not bother to pick up the phone and call me after you decided to cancel the run".
It is always the responsibility of the individual member to check their email and the website for any updates that may occur at any time. Although I claim: "Scheduled times and dates are subject to change without notice". I still try to send email, or private messages (PM) to inform members that a change has occurred. If you sign up for a trail ride, you need to check for updates the morning of the event. I run a 4X4 club. I am not running a daycare center!

Rig Requirements:
All vehicles:

  • Must meet the legal requirements for driving on the roads and highways in the state of Arizona.
