HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT
Do not come on the Trail with us if you can not agree to the following:
In consideration of participation in any web site use, event sponsored, promoted, organized or directed by the Yuma 4-Wheelers 4X4 Club (a.k.a. Yuma 4X4), you, your family, guests, passengers, executors, administrators, personal representatives, heirs, and assigns hereby releases and forever discharges the club, and the club's administrators, moderators, owners, members, sponsors, and agents from any and all claims of loss or damage including personal injury or death whether or not caused by the negligent act or omission of the club and/or the club's administrators, moderators, owners, members, sponsors, and agents while participating in an event sponsored, promoted, organized or directed by the club.
It is fully understood by each of the club members, owners, guests and forum users that there is some inherent risk associated with 4X4 events, including damage to vehicles, injury and death. In addition, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the club, and the club's club members, owners, guests and forum users, and agents from any loss, liability damage, or cost you incur due to such participation by the undersigned, whether caused by the club, members, owners, guests or forum users while the undersigned is participating in an event sponsored, promoted, or directed by the club. In using the club forum and/or participating in any event organized, directed or connected in any way to the club, each of the participants hereby acknowledges and represents the following: that you understand and accept the foregoing release and waiver of liability and indemnity agreement in electronic form and that it is legally binding.

In simpler terms, the above agreement says that you come out at your own risk. You are not responsible for anyone, but yourself, and the passengers in your vehicle. If you choose to try something difficult, or risky, you are responsible for whatever happens. If you choose to listen to the advise of others, you are responsible for whatever happens.

 Trail Rules

The primary objectives of the Yuma 4-Wheelers is to represent all that is good for the sport of 4-wheeling, and keep our trails open, all while having a good time!

  1. All 4X4's shall be maintained and in good mechanical condition.
TIP: Rigs with known leaks and mechanical issues should never be taken off-road.
  2. Practices involving dares or egging on are not acceptable. Drivers must be left to choose for themselves, what obstacles they prefer to try, or go round. Leave your egos and attitudes at home and let's have a great time!!
  3. No person shall operate a rig in a reckless or careless manner, or in a manner causing, or likely to cause, significant undue damage to or disturbance to the soil, wildlife, or wildlife habitats.
  4. Don't litter! Keep your trash in your rig.
TIP: We recommend everyone bring a plastic shopping bag, or trash bag to put their trash in.
  5. 4X4's are not to enter any permanent water areas unless there's a trail going through it. Oils and chemicals on the underside will pollute the water that the animals need to survive.
  6. Do not attempt vehicle recoveries unless you have proper attachment points and strap.
  7. If someone breaks down, everyone in the group must wait until the vehicle is able to continue. People will never be left behind. We came together, we will leave together.
  8. Drivers must keep both the person in front and behind in their sight, and keep a fair distance as well.
TIP: An adequate distance is about 2 vehicle lengths at slower speeds, under 20 mph.
  9. Everyone should stay in there spot, in the convoy. Don't jump line, or take off on a different route. Don't run up ahead of the group, unless you were asked to. Follow the rest of the group. The trail is no place to show your individualism.
  10. When making a turn on to another trail or road, wait for the vehicle behind you. Do not continue on until he/she sees you make the turn.
  11. Without exception, discharging of firearms is prohibited on our trail rides!
TIP: Transporting a loaded firearm in California is illegal.
  12. Harming of wildlife, including, but not limited to, rattle snakes, scorpions and tarantulas will not be tolerated.
TIP: We are stewards of Nature. We are trespassing on their turf.
  13. Drivers are responsible for the behavior of children, guests and pets traveling in their rigs.
TIP: Go over the rules with your guests before you bring them out so they know what we expect from them.
  14. Wear clothing that is appropriate for the desert. YOU'RE NOT AT THE BEACH! Always wear good sturdy shoes, or boots, loose fitting natural-fiber clothing, a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are a must.

TIP: Flip-flops and open toed sandals are not appropriate footwear for the desert. Everything in the desert either pokes, bites, or stings! Chollas, rocks, poisonous insects and snakes have easy access to exposed toes and feet. Chollas can, have and will poke through tires and shoe soles... OUCH!

  15. FYI: In summer, there's a real risk of dehydration! The mornings start out hot and as the sun comes up it gets even hotter! Overnight lows are in the 90's with daytime temperatures reaching above 127° F.

In winter, Overnight lows can reach below freezing (32° F). Morning temperatures tend to be cool (60° - 70° F) until around 9:00 am, then it starts warming up. Daytime highs are usually 70° - 80° F. Dress in layers, starting with something light and comfortable, then put on something warm and loose fitting over that first layer. Later when things warm up, just peel off the outer layer and your good for the day!
