What type of terrain do you usually cover? We run washes and trails that are legal for motorized vehicle useage. Trail Ratings will vary from "EASY" to "X-DIFFICULT". Pictures are worth a thousand words, so click here to see our latest Trail Run pictures.

Are the trails rough? That all depends on several things. Mostly it depends on how you interpret the word "rough". Some say the trail is too rough when their beverage spills from the can. If that's the way you feel, then you might want to find another hobby. Again, pictures are worth a thousand words, so click here to see our latest Trail Run pictures.

Does my 4x4 have to be modified to go where you go? No. Many of the people that enjoy Trail Runs with Yuma 4X4 have newer, stock Jeeps. There is a few of us who have modified "street legal" 4X4's and we always find places to exhibit their capabilities while others just watch.

Where does Yuma 4X4 go off-road? We mostly run trails that are on public lands that is managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). We run washes and trails and in the mountain ranges that surround Yuma. (Cargo Muchachos, Chocolate, Gila and Laguna). We run on designated trails within the National Wildlife Refuges in our area (Cabeza Prieta, Cibola, Imperial, Kofa). We run Woodcutters Pass, a difficult trail that is located within the Barry M. Goldwater Bombing Range (Range permit required).

How long is the trail? Typically we spend 3 to 5 hours running trails, but If time is your main concern, you should not go, because we might not get back before sun set. Time is estimated by the last time we went through any given trail. Time depends on things like weather, and the number of rigs. More rigs take more time. Trail conditions change all of the time by weather and use. Rigs can break and tires can go flat. People like to take breaks and chit-chat. Some people are new and need help getting through spots. We've had cases where a 1 hour ride turns into a 5 hour ride because it took 4 hours to fix a differential on the trail.

What do I need to know if I want to go 4-wheeling with the club? The primary objective of the Yuma 4-Wheelers is enjoyment, not competition. Practices involving dares or egging on are not acceptable. Members must be left to choose for themselves what obstacles they prefer to try or go round. Leave all egos and attitudes at home and have a great time!!

What if I have little, or no off-road experience? It doesn't matter how experienced you are. You will be welcomed and respected at Yuma 4x4. We will be there for you if you need help.

What should I bring on the Trail Runs? A basic tools kit, extra fluids for your rig, water for drinking, snacks and a lunch.

We live in Oregon and only come to Yuma in the wintertime. Can we still join? Yes! We have many winter visitors, from Oregon and other states (Canada too!) that stay in touch with us in the months they are at their home state, just by logging on to the Yuma 4X4 Forum (via the world wide web), just to let us know that they are thinking of us down here in Yuma, AZ.

Can I go on the Trail Runs if I am not a member of the Club? Yes. We have many non-members that go on Trail Runs regularly.

If I join, what do I get? You can expect to get some really good pictures and have some really good times. You also get the satisfaction of being part of a highly motivated 4X4 Club that doesn't sit around, spending time "web wheeling".

What do you do at your Meet and Greets? The Meet and Greets are informal get together's that lets us meet each other. We sip on cold beverages and chit-chat about club stuff, trails, 4X4's, the neighbor's cat or whatever.

Do I have attend any meetings before I can go on a Trail Run? No. You just need to sign up prior, so we know your coming.

Do I have to camp out? No. Some members like to plan camping trips, but camping is not a regular thing we do as a Club.

How do I sign up for the Trail Runs? Go to the forum index and scroll down to the section "WHAT ARE WE DOING?" Click in the forum "UPCOMING TRAIL RUNS". I always put "TRAIL RUN: xx/xx/xxxx" for the title. Click on the title, then click on the button that says "Reply To Topic". All you need to say is "Count me in", or something along that line. NOTE: If you sign up for a club event and something comes up, please let us know so we won't be left waiting for you to show up at the meeting place. Thank You.

What if I need to leave early so I can watch the NASCAR races? If you have to be back before a certain time, don't bother coming out with us. There's a chance we might be out late due to unforeseen circumstances.

Can I bring my dog on the Trail Runs? Yes. But only friendly dogs are welcome.

Are kids welcome on the Trail Runs? Yes. But you are responsible for them if they get injured, or cause injuries to others, or damage any vehicles (i.e. throwing rocks and bottles). Don't expect anyone to watch your kids for you.

Can I bring, or invite my friends on the runs? Yes. But you are responsible for their safety and their actions.

Are we allowed to bring any weapons? I will assume you mean "firearms". Arizona Gun Laws (Title 13 Chapter 31) and California Gun Laws (California Penal Code section 12025) contrast like black and white. In Arizona we are allowed to carry any hand gun in plain view. We may carry concealed if we have a permit. Gun laws in California does not prevent a citizen of the United States over 18 years of age who is not lawfully prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, from transporting by motor vehicle any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person provided the firearm is unloaded and stored in a locked container.

Are we allowed to drink alcohol while off-roading? It's not against club policy to drink a beer, or wine cooler while on a break, we just ask that you drink responsibly. Drinking alcohol while operating a motorized vehicle (on, or off road) is illegal in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Arizona and California enforce strict open container laws. Open container laws are also enforced on public lands (BLM). Hard alcohol is never allowed. DWI/DUI Laws of U.S. States

Can I shoot predatory animals, if I see any? No! What you do on your own time, is your business. However if you attend our Club functions, you will be expected to respect any and all wildlife and the land we travel on.

How do I sign up for the next Trail Run You just need to sign in and go the forum named UPCOMING TRAIL RUNS. I post all Trail Runs the weekend before the next Trail Run.

Can I bring my off-road vehicle, even if it's not a 4X4 pickup, or SUV? No. Cycles, ATV's and UTV's can't keep up on the highway and sand buggies will only get stuck. Trailering is not an option due to the fact that many trails start and end miles apart. Rock crawlers are OK if they are licensed and the driver/owner isn't too proud to run with street legal rigs.
